Chaperone Therapeutics is an early-phase pharmaceutical company based in Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. Maria is the cofounder of this company.
She also works as a consultant for a number of universities, research groups, and companies.
She is also working as the major tech transfer advisor in our project on anisomelic acid as a therapeutic agent against HPV-mediated cancer.

Maria was a founding member of Novati Institute, L.L.C. and the Chief Executive Officer of Cytex Therapeutics, Inc.
Previously, Maria was Assistant Dean for Business Development at the Duke University School of Medicine, where she is currently Adjunct Professor of Pharmacology and Cancer Biology, served as Assistant Director of the University of Michigan Medical School Office of Technology and Corporate Research and was Administrative Director of the University of Michigan Human Genome Center with Francis Collins.
Maria has a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, carried out Postdoctoral training at the National Cancer Institute and received an MBA from the University of Michigan Business School.
Maria has served as a Board Member at Southeast TechInventions, Inc., Durham, NC, a member of the Biotechnology Industry Organization’s Technology Transfer Subcommittee, Washington, DC, as a consultant to Technomedicum, University of Helsinki, Finland, and a member of the International Genomics Consortium, Intellectual Property Committee.
